Dr. Atwell has a Doctorate of Education in Family Care and Counseling. She owns and operates a private counseling and consulting practice in Concord, NC. As someone who is committed to serving her community, she is on the Cabarrus County Human Trafficking Task Force and is a past Board member for an anti-sex trafficking agency, Present Age Ministries. Dr. Atwell is also an adjunct faculty member at Liberty University teaching in the clinical mental health and school counseling programs. In addition to teaching and counseling, she consults with businesses, school systems, churches and other organizations to provide training and consulting on mental health and wellness.
