He then did a fellowship in foot and ankle medicine and surgery at the Mayo Clinic, He was the first foot and ankle fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon in Georgia when he began his practice in 1983. He practiced on the campus of Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital for over 40 years, so he has had personal long-term follow-up of the patients for whom he has provided care.
