Additional Information

Dr. Meryl Kahan is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with more than a decade of experience in women’s health. She earned her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she received an institutional award recognizing her exceptional attention to detail and clinical documentation. Dr. Kahan currently practices gynecology and women’s health and is the founder of SheMD, a solo private practice in Manhattan focused on gynecologic care, hormone management, and midlife women’s health. Her active clinical work includes evaluation and management of abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, hormonal disorders, menopause and perimenopause, contraception, infection, and preventive gynecologic care. She regularly manages complex diagnostic presentations and emphasizes meticulous documentation, patient communication, and evidence-based decision-making. Earlier in her career, Dr. Kahan practiced full-scope obstetrics and gynecology for nine years, including work in two private practices and as a laborist and OB-GYN hospitalist in a busy metropolitan setting. During that time, she managed a wide range of obstetric cases and acute inpatient scenarios. While she no longer practices obstetrics, this experience informs her understanding of interdisciplinary care, medical record review, and systems-based clinical decision-making. Dr. Kahan provides expert consultation in matters involving OBGYN care and women’s health, including failure to diagnose or delayed diagnosis, prenatal care, labor and delivery management, and postpartum care, as well as complications of gynecologic procedures, hormone therapy management, informed consent, documentation quality, continuity of care, and outpatient standards of care. She is known for her exceptional attention to detail, thorough chart analysis, and clear, objective medical opinions. Dr. Kahan is available for medical record review, written opinions, deposition, and testimony in cases related to obstetrics, gynecology, and women’s health.
