Kimberly McGranahan has been an Emergency Department nurse for over 15 years, with extensive expertise in caring for patients of all ages and acuity levels. She has significant clinical experience managing Stroke, STEMI, trauma, psychiatric, and other complex emergency presentations. In addition to her bedside practice, Ms. McGranahan serves as a Clinical Nurse Manager and routinely conducts investigations involving potential breaches of policy, regulatory standards, and standards of care. She possesses comprehensive knowledge of Emergency Department regulatory requirements, including CMS and Joint Commission standards, nurse staffing ratios, and nationally recognized clinical practice guidelines. Ms. McGranahan is meticulous and detail-oriented and provides comprehensive, objective analyses to support both plaintiff and defense cases. Utilizing her combined experience as a bedside nurse and clinical leader, she conducts thorough medical record reviews to assess case merit, develop clear chronologies and summaries, and evaluate adherence to nursing standards of care and regulatory requirements. She is equally skilled in identifying deviations from standards as well as confirming when care was appropriate and consistent with accepted practice, thereby supporting defense positions when no breach is present. Ms. McGranahan is an effective written and verbal communicator who delivers expert opinions efficiently, accurately, and with a high level of professional integrity to ensure a quality final product. She is an active member of the Emergency Nurses Association and is Certified in Emergency Nursing (CEN).
