Dr. Martin has served on multiple levels within the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and is a past president. He has served on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (now known as the International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators) and is a Past President. In the spring of 2018, his book, Independent Medical Evaluations – A Practical Guide was released by Springer Publications. He is a sought-after expert witness as he brings a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to questions that arise in the medico legal arena. He is both personable and authoritative in depositions and at trial and has a writing style that is used in expert reports that is akin to storytelling, thought to be the best approach for bringing often technical and difficult to master medical concepts to the non-medical reader.
