Jeffrey M. Farber, MD, FACS, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and has been performing surgery for over 41 years. Serving as a partner at Iowa Orthopaedic Center in Des Moines, IA, Dr. Farber’s practice specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric musculoskeletal disorders. I grew up in Medford, New Jersey. I was inspired to go into medicine by his father, who was a primary care physician in Medford for 40 years. I attended Johns Hopkins University as an undergraduate and then returned to New Jersey for medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent working on the orthopedic surgery service and went on to do my residency in orthopedics at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
I loved working on the pediatric orthopedic service at Case, especially being able to make such a significant difference in the lives of children and their families. I went on to pursue my pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I then moved to New Orleans to practice pediatric orthopedics at Ochsner Medical Center. There I developed a special interest in pediatric sports medicine and cerebral palsy.
