Dr. Larson is a board-certified general surgeon with an active clinical practice in south Florida since 2004. He has a subspecialty interest in bariatric surgery and regularly performs over 500 general surgery procedures annually in addition to over 125 bariatric (weight loss) surgery procedures annually. Dr. Larson is the medical director for a nationally recognized center of excellence in bariatric surgery and maintains a faculty appointment with the University of Miami. Michael Barker, MD, FACS, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified general surgeon who specializes in Bariatric and Laparoscopic Surgery. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and SUNY Brooklyn College of Medicine, and also completed a Fellowship in Bariatric & Minimally Invasive Surgery at East Carolina University. Dr. Barker spent 16 years on Active Duty in the Navy, where he made multiple overseas deployments and was Director of the largest Bariatric Surgery program within the Department of Defense. He continues his military service in the Navy Reserve where he has held a number of clinical and executive positions, including Advisor to the Surgeon General of the Navy regarding General Surgery and member of the Medical Executive Committee.
