Expert in drug and alcohol testing and impairment, fitness-for-duty, and occupational medicine. Extensive experience in cases involving drug and alcohol testing in the workplace and in other settings; dram shop cases; fitness of police and firefighters, commercial drivers, and other workers; and disability discrimination. Clear, detailed, well-organized, well-referenced, and timely reports. Qualifications include: board certified in occupational medicine. Certified medical review officer (MRO), FMCSA (NRCME) Medical Examiner and trainer, and (former) FAA Medical Examiner. Fellow of American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and awarded the 2018 ACOEM Achievement in Occupational Medicine Award. Assistant Professor, U Mass Medical School. Former residency director for occupational medicine training program. Written books and written/given numerous educational programs to physician and other groups about drug and alcohol testing, and about DOT physicals (commercial motor vehicle driver exams). From 1995 - 2022, wrote a national newsletter for physicians. Have taught supervisors about reasonable suspicion determinations. Consultant to federal agencies on medical standards for truck drivers and on workplace drug and alcohol testing programs. Consultant to employers, attorneys, and insurers on complex disability cases.
