Additional Information

Dr. Reza Mirshams has a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer with 46 years of combined industrial and academic experience, and he is a tenured full professor in mechanical engineering and technology in Texas, with a focus on materials engineering and manufacturing processes. He has taught courses in metallurgy, manufacturing processes, failure analysis of materials, engineering mechanics, fracture mechanics, fatigue, creep, engineering product design and development, materials selection, corrosion, and mechanical behavior and performance of materials. His industrial experience includes serving as a technical director in high-strength alloyed steel products, sheet metal forming, galvanizing steel sheets, product design and manufacturing processes, failure analysis of structural parts due to various loading types, fatigue and creep, fracture mechanics, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and galvanic corrosion. He has published 110 articles, reports, and presentations at national and international professional conferences as well as reports for government and industry. His publications in scientific engineering archival journals have been cited internationally and reported in Google Scholar. He has testified and served as an expert witness and consultant in several failure analyses of materials in litigation support cases. Specifically, he has been involved in oil well incidents, gas pipeline ruptures, and galvanized sheet metal forming and roofing. He is a member of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).
