Justin Yang, MD, MPH, FACP, FACOEM, FASAM, is an academic occupational and environmental medicine physician with faculty and leadership appointments at Harvard and Boston University. He serves as Associate Program Director of the Harvard Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency Program and as Adjunct Assistant Professor in Environmental Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Yang brings a distinctive combination of academic medicine, clinical practice, occupational health leadership, and public-health expertise. He completed his MPH at Harvard, internal medicine residency at Boston Medical Center- Brighton and occupational and environmental medicine residency at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is triple board certified in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Addiction Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He is also a Certified Medical Review Officer and a National Registry Certified Medical Examiner. Dr. Yang is an accomplished author, researcher, and educator in occupational medicine. He has authored or co-authored 18 peer-reviewed publications on topics including workplace cardiovascular risk, firefighter health, commercial driver sleep apnea screening, COVID-19 occupational exposure, essential workers, homeless-shelter mitigation strategies, healthcare-worker burnout, substance use disorder programs, and workplace health. He has also contributed to textbook and professional educational publications and has served as a regional, national, and international invited speaker on occupational medicine, employee health, substance use disorder in the workplace, chronic pain and workforce burnout. Dr. Yang has held leadership roles across academic medicine, employee health, occupational health, urgent care, digital health, and substance use treatment. His prior and current roles include Medical Director of Employee & Occupational Health at Atrius Health, Medical Director at Pelago Health, U.S. Chief Medical Officer at Kaia Health, Medical Director at AppliedVR, and consultant in employee health for multiple organizations. Dr. Yang provides expert consultation and evidence-based medical-legal opinions in occupational and environmental medicine, internal medicine, and addiction medicine.
