As a Doctoral prepared Certified Nurse-Midwife, legal nurse consultant, nursing leader, and educator I have more than 20 years of experience in military and civilian healthcare. I have 14 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, 6 years of active Certified Nurse-Midwife practice (still practicing), and more than 14 years of experience as an AWHONN Intermediate & Advanced Fetal Monitoring Instructor. My expertise includes women's health, obstetrics, infertility, gynecology, fetal surveillance, patient safety, quality improvement, and triage management. As a CNM, RNC-OB, and C-EFM certified clinician, I bring advanced expertise in obstetric risk assessment, fetal surveillance, patient safety, and evidence-based care. My experience includes leadership of midwifery services, quality improvement initiatives, graduate medical education mentoring, and interdisciplinary care teams. I have extensive experience reviewing complex clinical cases, medical records, quality events, and obstetric legal reviews. This work includes evaluating adherence to standards of care, interpreting fetal monitoring tracings, assessing clinical decision-making and documentation, identifying patient safety concerns, and providing recommendations to support regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and quality improvement. In addition to clinical practice, I serve as a nursing educator and doctoral mentor, teaching across DNP, MSN, BSN and healthcare administration programs.
