Dr. Veronica Carullo is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist and pediatric pain medicine specialist with over 15 years of post-training clinical, academic, and leadership experience. She holds subspecialty board certifications from the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Pediatric Anesthesiology, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Carullo completed her Pediatrics and Anesthesiology residencies and served as Chief Resident at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by a Longwood Combined Pain Medicine Fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Brigham & Women's Hospital. She subsequently built and directed pediatric pain management programs at four major academic medical centers: Cohen Children's Medical Center, Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medicine, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center/Children's Hospital of Mississippi. She is currently a locums tenens anesthesiologist and is the CEO of Carullo Consulting, PLLC. Dr. Carullo has served as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology since 2016. Her academic career includes appointments as Assistant, Associate, and full Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at four medical schools. She served as Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program Director from 2016-2018. Her clinical expertise includes pediatric anesthesia, acute and chronic pain management, regional anesthesia and nerve blocks, sickle cell disease pain, complex regional pain syndrome, neuropathic pain, cancer pain, palliative care, opioid therapy, intrathecal drug delivery, and perioperative pain management in medically complex pediatric patients across inpatient, outpatient, and critical care settings. Dr. Carullo has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple NIH-, FDA-, and industry-sponsored pediatric analgesic trials. Her peer-reviewed publications appear in journals including Pediatric Blood & Cancer and the Journal of Pediatric Psychology, and she has authored chapters in major texts published by Springer, McGraw Hill, Oxford University Press, and Cambridge University Press. She is a frequent invited speaker at national conferences on pediatric pain, opioid safety, and regional anesthesia. Dr. Carullo holds an M.B.A. from Millsaps College and is licensed in New York, Florida, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania.
