Dr. Astha Bhatt, MD is a Board-Certified General Surgeon and Fellowship-Trained Colorectal Surgeon with advanced expertise in robotic and minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. She has performed over 1000 surgical procedures with a focus on complex colorectal disease, including diverticulitis, colorectal cancer, bowel obstruction, and emergency abdominal surgery, gall bladder surgery, ventral and inguinal hernia surgeries. Dr. Bhatt completed her colorectal surgery fellowship at AdventHealth Tampa and her general surgery residency at St. Agnes Hospital, a Johns Hopkins–affiliated program. Her clinical practice emphasizes high-acuity and technically complex cases, including reoperative surgery and management of complications such as anastomotic leaks, intra-abdominal sepsis, and surgical site infections. She has extensive experience in both elective and emergent surgical decision-making, including damage-control surgery in critically ill patients. Dr. Bhatt is highly skilled in evaluating standard of care, surgical judgment, operative technique, and postoperative management in colorectal and general surgery cases. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Bhatt is actively involved in multidisciplinary care and physician collaboration, and she is experienced in reviewing medical records, preparing expert reports, and providing clear, objective, and evidence-based opinions for medico-legal cases.
