EXPERT OVERVIEW Michael Vredenburgh, M.S., is the Founder and Principal Expert at Vantage Forensics. With over 15 years of forensic consulting and scientific research experience, he specializes in the intersection of Human Factors Engineering, Applied Biomechanics, and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Mr. Vredenburgh applies fundamental physics, computational simulations, and validated human-performance metrics to objectively evaluate human-system interactions and accident causation. Retained as a primary expert in over 100 complex litigation matters, he maintains a rigorously objective, 50/50 balanced practice serving both plaintiff and defense counsel. He has been deposed and testified at trial 17 times since 2021 with zero Daubert exclusions, regularly qualifying in both state and federal courts. PHYSICAL HUMAN FACTORS & APPLIED BIOMECHANICS Mr. Vredenburgh analyzes the critical interaction between individuals, their environment, and physical forces. He utilizes state-of-the-art computational modeling and empirical data to evaluate: Transportation & Accident Reconstruction: Driver Perception-Reaction Time (PRT), drowsy/distracted driving (PERCLOS metrics), "Looked But Failed to See" (LBFTS) errors, intersection sight distance, and vehicle telemetry. Biomechanics & Kinematics: Injury causation, occupant kinematics, low-speed impacts, and comparing real-world dynamic loads against established human tolerance thresholds (e.g., NIOSH, ASTM). Premises Liability & Falls: Slips, trips, and falls, hazard conspicuity, visual clutter, lighting/glare, and "Satisfaction of Search" (SOS) cognitive errors in multi-hazard environments. DIGITAL HUMAN FACTORS, UX/UI & SOFTWARE LIABILITY A recognized expert in digital interfaces, Mr. Vredenburgh audits large-scale software platforms, websites, and mobile applications to determine consumer comprehension and platform liability. Platform Safety & Algorithms: Evaluating age/identity verification funnels, user flow safety "friction," and negligent system architecture. Risk Communication & Warnings: Analyzing the adequacy and visual conspicuity of product warnings, labeling, and digital disclosures using readability indexing (Flesch-Kincaid) and UX analytics. ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND Mr. Vredenburgh holds an M.S. in Industrial and Human Factors Engineering from Wright State University, where he is currently a Ph.D. Candidate (ABD). He earned his B.S. in Bioengineering (Computational Biology) from UC Berkeley. He is a published author in peer-reviewed journals, including the Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES).
