M. Kareem Shaath, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon and Chief of Orthopedic Research with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Shaath has advanced training in caring for severely injured patients with complex fractures and dislocations. He treats injuries to the upper and lower extremities as well as the pelvis and acetabulum. He also treats patients with complex orthopedic conditions such as infected or non-healing fractures, post-traumatic deformities, and sacroiliac arthritis. Dr. Shaath has also published extensively and is a frequent presenter at national and international medical conferences. Beyond his research and clinical practice, Dr. Shaath has experience performing Compulsory Medical Examinations (CMEs) and Independent Medical Record Reviews in 40+ cases, demonstrating his competence in providing objective medical assessments and his comfort offering expert opinion within the legal arena. His expertise in orthopedic trauma positions him to evaluate causation, treatment appropriateness, and surgical decision-making across a wide range of conditions — from fractures and dislocations to complex post-traumatic deformities. Dr. Shaath is known for his ability to translate complex medical findings into clear, accessible language for attorneys and legal teams. He is highly responsive, easy to work with, and readily available to travel throughout the state of Florida for examinations.
