Additional Information

Board-Certified Physician Anesthesiologist | Dental Board of California Evaluator | Dental Office Anesthesia Specialist As a Board-Certified Physician Anesthesiologist, a state-appointed General Anesthesia Evaluator for the Dental Board of California, and the Founder and CEO of LA Dental Anesthesia, my clinical practice is exclusively dedicated to sedation and anesthesia in the dental office setting. I provide attorneys with highly objective, ground-level analysis on standard-of-care adherence, regulatory compliance, and clinical oversight in sedation and anesthesia within outpatient dental sedation. CLINICAL EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS: Case Volume & Focus: Over 2,000 documented cases strictly in dental office anesthesia including general anesthesia and sedation. Board Certification: Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Medical Licensure: Licensed Physician and Surgeon by the Medical Board of California. Specialized Dental Permitting: Medical General Anesthesia (MGA) Permit with Pediatric Endorsement from the Dental Board of California. State-Appointed Evaluator: Official General Anesthesia Evaluator for the Dental Board of California. Acting as an agent of the State, I am formally tasked with evaluating regional practitioners and dental facilities to ensure strict adherence to state safety regulations and clinical protocols. AREAS OF MEDICOLEGAL EXPERTISE & STANDARD OF CARE ANALYSIS DSO Consulting & Risk Mitigation: I serve as a consultant for multi-location Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) and private dental offices to perform comprehensive clinical audits. I identify high-risk areas of exposure and implement modernized protocols to align facilities with current safety standards and decrease organizational liability. Ultimate Provider Liability & Facility Readiness: While a dental office shares liability for a safe environment, the anesthesia permit is held by the anesthesiologist, who bears the ultimate responsibility to ensure the facility meets minimum safety standards. I evaluate whether the provider verified the presence and functionality of mandated equipment (e.g., suction, airway tools, monitors) before initiating sedation. The "Gray Area" (Hospital vs. Dental Office): There is a vast operational disparity between a hospital/ASC and a dental office. I expose standard-of-care deviations where providers—accustomed to institutional safety nets—fail to understand the total shift in operational liability when working in an isolated dental setting. Pre-Operative Evaluation Blind Spots: In a dental office, the anesthesia provider is independently responsible for the entire pre-anesthetic clearance process. I pinpoint where isolated, non-hospital pre-op protocols fail, leading to the mismanagement of high-risk comorbidities and subsequent legal exposure. Pre-Induction Emergency Checks: The anesthesia provider bears a non-delegable duty to verify all emergency equipment. I review records to determine if the provider properly checked the functionality and expiration status of all required emergency medications and supplies prior to the start of the case. Caleb’s Law & Staffing Requirements: Expert in California’s stringent regulations, including Caleb’s Law (SB 501). I analyze cases for compliance with mandated continuous monitoring, pediatric safety standards, and specific auxiliary staffing requirements. Clinical Oversight & Management: Managing a daily team of anesthesiologists across numerous practices provides a macro-level perspective on systemic errors and common standard-of-care deviations that solo practitioners may never encounter. SERVICES PROVIDED Available for objective case review, deposition, and trial testimony in matters involving dental anesthesia complications, standard-of-care adherence, and dental facility compliance for both plaintiff and defense counsel.
