Additional Information

I functioned as a full time active clinical acute care surgeon which included emergency general surgery, trauma surgery, and critical care service lines in a level 1 trauma hospital. I have clinical experience spanning over 4000 operative cases and over 15,000 intensive care unit cases throughout my career. I also trained in a heavy penetrating trauma program, giving me extensive experience within the realm of penetrating trauma. I also have the unique perspective of working in many different types of intensive care units (ICUs) including surgical, medical, neurocritical, cardiovascular, and transplant intensive care units. Administratively, I functioned as medical director of the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) at a level 1 trauma center which allowed me to implement clinical practice guidelines as well as modify pre-existing guidelines, a process we refer to as performance improvement (PI). This skill set has allowed me to excel in objective chart review centered around patient care and identification of barriers in optimal patient care. This has been cardinal in my success as an expert witness. Additionally, within the same level 1 hospital system, I have functioned as co-chair of the critical care operations providing oversight over 5 different ICUs, allowing me to make a difference in the broader hospital system. I had extensive experience with education at all levels including clerkship director for medical students and residents, critical care program director for surgical fellows, and am a proud member of Alpha Omega Alpha - a national society that selects those who are recognized for high educational achievement and gifted teaching. I have also published peer reviewed literature regarding failure to rescue, a cornerstone for medical legal review. I have been doing expert witness work since 2018. I have performed over 100 case reviews and retain a 50/50 plaintiff/defendant split. I have performed depositions and I have prior testimony experience with demonstrated success in clearly communicating to the jury as well as handling cross examination comfortably. My reputation is based on my objectivity and my level of detail during my review process for each case as well as my ability to explain clearly my field of expertise to my clients.
