Alexander Iteen, M.D. is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with active clinical practice in both a high-volume military tertiary care emergency department and a busy community hospital setting. Dr. Iteen is licensed in California and accepts cases nationwide from both defense and plaintiff attorneys seeking an expert in emergency medicine, emergency airway management, sepsis, vascular access, emergency department procedures, and trauma resuscitation. Dr. Iteen's goal is always to provide prompt, thorough case screening with well written reports grounded in peer-reviewed evidence, established clinical standards, and reproducible methodology. While Dr. Iteen has provided standard of care analysis within the military health system for multiple cases brought to the US military's malpractice process including high risk chest pain, ectopic pregnancy, airway management, and sepsis. Additionally, Dr. Iteen participates in monthly case review meetings to ensure departmental quality of care. Dr. Iteen holds academic appointments as an Assistant Professor of Military and Emergency Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences as well as an assistant program director at the Naval Medical Center San Diego Emergency Medicine residency. He serves as the Bioskills course director at the residency, overseeing monthly cadaveric and live tissue, high acuity procedural training. This includes REBOA, thoracotomy, chest tubes, vascular access, and airway management. This course gives Dr. Iteen extensive procedural knowledge and experience leading to a unique perspective on procedural standard of care. Additionally, Dr. Iteen has spearheaded a video review, quality assurance airway management process at his current academic institution ensuring standards are met for airway management within his department. In addition to his six peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Iteen has presented at national conferences and published book chapters and online articles on topics including peri-intubation resuscitation, trauma resuscitation, and vascular access. His research directly informs his perspective on trauma resuscitation and airway management cases.
