Karen Woods, MS, CNM, C-EFM is a practicing Certified Nurse Midwife with expertise in obstetrics, labor and delivery management, electronic fetal monitoring interpretation, obstetric triage, induction and augmentation of labor, oxytocin management, non-reassuring fetal heart rate patterns, Category II and Category III fetal heart rate tracings, shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, fetal demise evaluation, and obstetrical standards of care. Ms. Woods is the Director of Midwifery for a large, multi-site obstetric practice and oversees a team of Certified Nurse Midwives who provide care across multiple hospital settings. She maintains an active clinical practice providing both outpatient prenatal care and inpatient labor and delivery management, caring for patients throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. Her clinical experience includes labor management, obstetric triage decision-making, fetal monitoring interpretation, management of obstetric emergencies, and perinatal patient safety. She regularly collaborates with obstetricians, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary hospital staff in the care of both routine and high-risk obstetric patients. Ms. Woods holds certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) and serves as a clinical preceptor for student midwives, providing education and mentorship in obstetric care, labor management, and fetal monitoring interpretation. She provides expert consultation for attorneys involving obstetric standards of care, labor and delivery management, fetal monitoring interpretation, and review of obstetric medical records. Her work focuses on objective, evidence-based evaluation of the medical record and clinical decision-making.
