5Additional Information
I am a dual board-certified emergency medicine and EMS physician available for expert witness services in cases involving pre-hospital and in-hospital standard of care. I accept both plaintiff and defense engagements nationwide. The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) recommends that EMS medical directors be physicians with EMS clinical experience, familiarity with pre-hospital care and operations, and ideally board certified in the EMS sub-specialty. I meet and exceed each of these criteria as a dual board-certified (EM and EMS) EMS medical director currently directing eight agencies across Northern Arizona. **EMS EXPERTISE:** I am one of a limited number of physicians nationally who hold board certification in both Emergency Medicine and the EMS sub-specialty through the American Board of Emergency Medicine. I completed a dedicated EMS Fellowship at Stanford University and currently serve as EMS Medical Director for Northern Arizona Healthcare, providing medical direction for eight EMS agencies across a 20,000-square-mile urban, rural, and tribal service area with approximately 37,600 annual EMS calls. I also serve as Local EMS Advisor for the U.S. Forest Service (Coconino and Kaibab National Forests) and as Medical Director for Fortitude Medical Corporation, providing medical direction for family offices and formerly the SailGP international sailing series. My EMS experience spans urban, suburban, rural, tribal, wildland, and wilderness settings. **CLINICAL PRACTICE:** I maintain active clinical practice as an attending emergency medicine physician at multiple facilities including Flagstaff Medical Center, Verde Valley Medical Center, Sedona Medical Center, Valleywise Medical Center, Maryvale Hospital, and Hopi Health Care Center. **EDUCATION AND TRAINING:** I deliver quarterly continuing education to over 170 paramedics across 16 EMS agencies in Northern Arizona Healthcare's EMS system. I have delivered over 50 lectures on pre-hospital clinical topics including cardiac arrest, airway management, stroke, trauma, pain management, toxicology, pediatrics, documentation, MCI/triage, and EMS operations. I provide EMS training for the U.S. Forest Service and teach and supervise emergency medicine residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners at various clinical sites. **RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS:** I have authored nine peer-reviewed publications and currently hold a research grant for a pre-hospital acetaminophen pain management study. I serve as a peer reviewer for Pre-hospital Emergency Care, Wilderness and Environmental Medicine, and the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport. I contributed questions to the 2024 national EMS In-Training Exam (EMSITE). **MEMBERSHIPS:** National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP), American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Wilderness Medicine Society (WMS).
