Ronald N. Gaster, MD, FACS, is Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology formerly at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA and currently at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California, Irvine, and former Chief of Ophthalmology at the Long Beach V.A. Medical Center. He saw private patients at his offices in Beverly Hills and Orange County. Dr. Gaster's primary clinical and research interests are in corneal and refractive surgery, including LASIK, SMILE, PRK and corneal transplantation; small incision cataract surgery with the femtosecond laser and advanced technology intraocular lenses; and the latest treatments for dry eye disease, including IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). He has published on femtosecond laser enabled keratoplasty, and was a principal investigator on clinical trials involving Corneal Cross-Linking for Keratoconus. He has been selected by his peers to be included in Best Doctors in America since 1996 and one of the Top Doctors in US News and World Report and numerous other awards. Dr. Gaster has been a consultant for companies such as Merck, Pharmacia, B&L, Katena, Lumenis and others in the past. He enjoys teaching eye surgery to residents and corneal fellows at UC Irvine and internationally to eye surgeons.
