Dr. Vivek Gupta, MD, MPH is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with over 12 years of active clinical experience across hospital medicine, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient primary care. He completed residency training at Harbor–UCLA Medical Center and earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California. Dr. Gupta has held leadership roles in both clinical and operational settings. He previously worked with Optum, where he participated in value-based care initiatives, quality improvement programs, and population health management strategies within large integrated healthcare systems. His experience includes oversight of chronic disease management, readmission reduction, care coordination, and performance metrics tied to regulatory and payer standards. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Mindful Wellness, a physician-led medical weight loss practice, and as Chief Operating Officer of Gupta Medical Center, a primary care practice serving a predominantly Medi-Cal population. In these roles, he oversees clinical standards, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary care delivery. Dr. Gupta has extensive experience providing and supervising care in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute environments, including transitions of care, medication reconciliation, polypharmacy management, sepsis recognition, and complex chronic disease management. His clinical background spans inpatient hospital care, long-term care, and outpatient internal medicine. He also maintains expertise in obesity medicine and evidence-based pharmacologic management of metabolic disease. Dr. Gupta holds active medical licenses in multiple states, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Illinois, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Maryland. In addition to active clinical and administrative practice, Dr. Gupta frequently lectures on evidence-based medicine, healthcare systems improvement, and standards of care. He currently serves as a delegate to the Los Angeles County Medical Association for the California Medical Association, contributing to organized medicine and healthcare policy discussions. Dr. Gupta brings a structured, evidence-driven approach to case review, with careful attention to documentation standards, regulatory requirements, care coordination, and adherence to accepted clinical guidelines.
