In 2011 I have received my PhD in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. From 2011 to 2018, I worked as the Senior Economist to Professor Stephen Magee (White House Advisor to 4 different Presidents). Since 2015, I have been a part-time lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin (taught at the Economics Department, 12 classes, 800+ students). Since 2018, I am the founder and principal at IAMECON. I manage a multi-disciplinary team (6 full time staff: 2 PhD, 2 MAs, BS, BA) economists, statisticians, programmers, data scientists, and mathematicians, we handle all aspects of our work in-house. My team is agile, experienced, reliable and thorough. I write my own reports (no exceptions), always deliver excellence in live testimony - see my references and testimonials. Throughout my career as an economist, I published several economic articles in peer-reviewed journals, and my research has been awarded 4 federal research grants (totaling ~ $1.5 million between NSF and SBA). Below are some of my career highlights: - in 2014, I calculated economic damages for a group boycott antitrust matter (in the steel redistribution industry against Nucor et al.), and a jury awarded my client $156 million in economic damages. - In 2015, for a patent infringement against Google, I calculated economic damages over a billion dollars. - In 2016, I testified against Walmart on behalf of the State of Texas about the economic impacts of Walmart's potential entry into Texas' liquor markets. My client won that case in Appeals court and then the Supreme court upheld that decision. - In 2020, I testified in a federal trial in Sherman, TX against Amazon in a patent infringement matter. Although my client lost the case based on their patents' invalidity, the jury found me as "the most trustworthy and reliable expert among all experts in the case". (please contact Jay Berquist regarding my testimony - contact info in the very bottom of my CV). - In 2022, I submitted (as the main author) an Amicus Brief to the Supreme Court (regarding Prop 12 in CA), and our brief was cited by the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the ruling. - In 2024, I testified in Beaumont TX regarding a medical negligence case, and won my client $59M (record high) and the lead lawyer described my performance as: "You were excellent – very credible, likable, and knowledgeable." (Cody Dishon, contact info in my CV). - I currently serve as the damages expert economist for Attorney General's Office in CA and AZ.
