Previously certified in Comprehensive Criminalistics by the American Board of Criminalistics, Deborah Stonebarger provides rigorous evaluation of forensic evidence, laboratory analyses, crime scene processing, and evidence collection. She has provided expert testimony in crime scenes, evidence collection and evidence integrity, forensic firearms identification, blood and breath alcohol analysis including impairment, and crime lab procedures. She assists in identifying errors and helps to support defense strategy. Deborah worked for 16 years for the California Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Services. She helped process DNA samples to build California’s Offender DNA Database while working at the DNA laboratory, and was a recipient of the Attorney General’s Team award for this endeavor. She also worked at regional laboratories in Eureka, California and Redding, California where she assisted with crime scene processing and evidence testing for numerous law enforcement agencies in over eight counties. As a forensic science expert she is meticulous in discovery review to assist attorneys and clients, providing thorough reports to assist with both comprehension of the State’s analyses and all areas of potential weakness. She has given presentations to multiple associations and has written articles to help investigators understand forensic evidence.
