Additional Information

I am a retired law enforcement detective and an active forensic genetic genealogist specializing in the review, evaluation, and application of DNA-driven investigative techniques in criminal cases. My work focuses on forensic genetic genealogy (FGG/IGG/FIGG), including the use of SNP DNA testing, genealogical tree construction, familial DNA analysis, and investigative logic used to identify or exclude persons of interest. I assist attorneys in evaluating whether genetic genealogy methods were applied appropriately, ethically, and within accepted investigative standards. I have over 25 years of experience in criminal investigations, including homicide, violent crime, and cold cases. Since transitioning into forensic genetic genealogy, I have worked cases involving unidentified human remains, suspect identification, investigative missteps, and vendor-driven DNA errors. I am frequently consulted to review law enforcement and third-party vendor genetic genealogy work for accuracy, methodological soundness, and investigative bias. My expertise includes: ~ Review of forensic genetic genealogy methodologies ~ Analysis of SNP and STR DNA results in an investigative context ~ Genealogical tree construction and relationship analysis ~ Identification of investigative errors and confirmation bias ~ Evaluation of reference testing practices ~ Review of vendor reports and outsourced DNA work ~ Case audits for wrongful identification or misapplied DNA logic In addition to casework, I train law enforcement agencies nationwide in proper forensic genetic genealogy practices, investigative control, and evidence integrity. This experience provides a unique perspective into how genetic genealogy should be conducted versus how it is often misapplied. I provide consulting services, case review, expert analysis, and expert testimony in criminal and post-conviction matters. POST and IADLEST Certified Instructor.
