Katie Cecconi, MMS, PA-C, CWS, CLT, is a board-certified Physician Assistant and Certified Wound Specialist with over a decade of clinical experience in wound care, dermatology, and post-acute medicine. She provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of complex acute and chronic wounds across outpatient wound clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and transitional care settings. Her clinical practice focuses on adult and geriatric populations with multifactorial wounds, including pressure injuries, venous and arterial ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical and traumatic wounds, malignant wounds, and atypical etiologies. From 2017 through 2025, she practiced at M Health Fairview Wound Healing Institute and Aurora Transitional Care Unit, where she managed a large independent panel of medically complex patients and collaborated closely with vascular surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry, and certified wound nurses. Her responsibilities included assessment and treatment of wounds of varying etiologies, performing debridements, biopsies, total contact casting, and advanced biologic therapies. She also initiated and facilitated development of a wound service within a transitional care unit and provided telehealth services. She has extensive experience with both Epic and PointClickCare electronic medical records Currently, Ms. Cecconi serves as Regional Clinical Educator for Integrated Wound Care, providing consulting wound services within skilled nursing facilities and overseeing clinical onboarding, mentorship, and quality standards for new providers. She delivers education and clinical oversight to ensure consistent, evidence-based care across multiple sites. She routinely performs debridements, multilayer compression therapy, and negative pressure wound therapy Earlier in her career, she practiced dermatology at Forefront Dermatology, where she developed strong procedural and diagnostic skills through performing biopsies, excisions, incision and drainage, laser therapies, and management of complex medical dermatology patients, including those on high-risk systemic medications . This dermatologic foundation enhances her expertise in skin integrity, wound differentials, and procedural technique. She is certified by the American Board of Wound Management as a Certified Wound Specialist and is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. She has completed extensive continuing medical education in wound healing, compression therapy, and dermatology and has contributed to peer-reviewed posters and publications on advanced wound management and compression strategies Collectively, her experience spans outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and interdisciplinary surgical collaboration, with daily responsibility for wound assessment, procedural intervention, care coordination, and implementation of evidence-based standards of care. This breadth of practice provides her with specialized expertise in wound care management, documentation, and evaluation of clinical decision-making in both clinic and skilled nursing environments.
