Dr. Ralph Zipper, MD, FACOG, FPMRS is a board-certified urogynecologist with subspecialty certification in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) and board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology. He maintains active medical licenses in Florida and California. Dr. Zipper completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut (B.S., Biology), earned his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and completed residency and fellowship training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, including advanced training in urogynecology and urodynamics. Dr. Zipper's expert reviews and testimonies have resulted in 100% favorable outcomes (settlements or judgments), totaling more than $100 million. He is engaged for clear, well-supported opinions that withstand scrutiny and for practical litigation support that helps attorneys evaluate risk, strengthen strategy, and present complex medical and device issues in a straightforward way. As an expert witness, Dr. Zipper is known for meticulous, records-driven analysis and for identifying critical methodological and evidentiary gaps in opposing expert opinions, including severe deficiencies or the absence of reliable scientific and clinical basis. He has a reputation for being remarkably thorough, prepared, and on-time. His early case assessments have saved multiple firms and clients substantial costs by identifying strengths and vulnerabilities early, and he has extensive experience drafting high-impact deposition questioning for opposing treating physicians and expert witnesses. Clinically, Dr. Zipper has extensive, hands-on expertise across the breadth of female pelvic reconstructive and cosmetic gynecologic surgery. His experience includes vaginal, abdominal, and minimally invasive/robotic approaches for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, as well as evaluation and management of complications related to transvaginal mesh and cosmetic gynecology procedures. A defining feature of Dr. Zipper's professional profile is his commitment to surgeon education. He has trained more than 1,000 surgeons in gynecologic, urogynecologic, and cosmetic gynecologic techniques, including over 400 visiting surgeons who traveled from around the world specifically to learn his operative methods. He has authored multiple surgical instruction manuals and contributed textbook chapters focused on procedural technique and clinical decision-making. Dr. Zipper also brings a rare and highly valuable medical device leadership perspective. He has served as CEO and in other C-suite roles at multiple medical device companies, providing practical expertise in device standards, regulatory and quality systems, labeling/IFU, physician training, and commercialization. This dual vantage point - physician standards of care and device standards - is particularly important in cases involving procedure selection, informed consent, product design, warnings/labeling, complications, and causation.
