Dr. Holt attended Duke University, graduating magna cum laude and earned her MD degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Her Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism was completed at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and she obtained board certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. She practiced general Endocrinology for 28 years in Raleigh, NC, USA. Dr. Holt then transitioned to the biopharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs. She attained the position of Head of Global Medical, Clinical, and Safety at LifeScan Enterprises, LLC prior to her retirement from full-time employment in January, 2026. Dr. Holt has an academic appointment as Assistant Consulting Professor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. She also served as a co-Director for Taking Control of Your Diabetes. She was elected and served on the national Board of Directors for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. She has been an advisor or consultant for several private and public medical companies. As an expert witness, she has been involved in a number of medical cases over the years, averaging one every two to three years. She has been deposed once and testified in court twice, once as the attending physician of a patient who was treated by a person practicing medicine without a license. A trained public speaker, Dr. Holt excels in simplifying complex concepts and in being clear and concise. She is a multi-year recipient of a Patient's Choice award, was named in multiple years as Top Endocrinologist and in America's Top Physicians, has received a Top Doctor award, was a finalist for a Top Women Leader award, and was given a Lifetime Achievement Award from Who’s Who.
