Artur Sadowski is a retired (2025) NYPD Detective with more than 24 years of combined military and law-enforcement experience, complemented by extensive academic credentials and nationally recognized instructor certifications. He spent four years in the Marine Corps as a military policeman, eight years as an NYPD officer on patrol in Brooklyn North and twelve years as an instructor at the NYPD’s Firearms & Tactics Section (FTS). During his tenure at FTS he has trained thousands of officers in varying agencies in the use of firearms, pepper spray, Tasers, scenario, and simulator-based training. Since becoming the lead curriculum developer in 2017 he has written and revised approximately forty-five lesson plans delivered to tens of thousands of officers, and granted various instructor level certifications to over 800 instructor applicants in both New York and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He is certified by the FBI as a firearms, and carbine instructor; By the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) as an instructor in general topics, firearms, aerosol subject restraint, reality based training, security guards, and armed security guards.; By Axon Enterprises as a master instructor in the Taser Seven and X26p models; by SABRE as an aerosol projector master instructor; by Crotega as a REPULS instructor, by Asp as a baton instructor; by Ti Training as a use of force simulator master instructor; and Simunition as a Master product and scenario instructor. He is also certified by the Force Science Institute as an Force Science Advanced Specialist, a Realistic De-Escalation Instructor and in the Advanced Body Worn Camera analysis course. He has provided expertise on policy and procedure, use of force, police tactics, and product technical specifications by way of formal report, deposition, or testimony. He has been consulted by and/or provided subject matter expert testimony, in both criminal and civil cases, for the NYPD, the Bronx, Brooklyn, New York, Queens, and Richmond County District Attorney’s Offices, New York State Attorney General’s Office, the NYC Law Department, and the New York City Corporation Counsel. He has been court certified as an expert in firearms, Tasers, pepper spray, police training, police use of force, police procedure, and holsters. In 2018 he developed and delivered a use of force training curriculum for police instructors of the Kingdom of Jordan. He has represented the NYPD with DCJS curriculum enhancement panels focused on updating the statewide Basic Course for Police Officers initial firearms course which formulated a new statewide recruit firearms training standard. Additionally, he also represented the NYPD in crafting a five-day instructor workshop to certify existing instructors to present this curriculum, and was one of two NYPD representatives on a DCJS panel that overhauled and modernized NYS Firearms Instructor training which went into effect in December of 2024 (all of these were approved by the Municipal Police Training Council). He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice, and an Advanced Certificate in Terrorism Studies, all from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
