5Additional Information
I am a board-certified academic neurologist providing medical-legal consultation and expert witness services across a broad range of neurological matters. I hold a faculty appointment at a major academic medical center, where my work includes direct clinical care, clinical/translational research, and the supervision and education of trainees. I have authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and regularly apply evidence-based medicine, outcomes research, and contemporary neurological science to complex questions of causation, standard of care, and damages. My expertise includes evaluation of neurological disease and injury, prognosis, impairment, and functional outcomes. I am experienced in interpreting complex longitudinal medical records, neuroimaging (CT/MRI), and neurologic testing and in integrating the medical record with the scientific literature to form clear, defensible opinions. I approach each matter with independence and objectivity, emphasizing methodological rigor, clinical realism, and clear communication for attorneys, judges, and juries. I accept matters including (1) medical malpractice (defense), with standard-of-care and causation analyses involving neurologists, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and multidisciplinary teams, including alleged delays or missed diagnoses of stroke/TIA, seizures/status epilepticus, CNS infection, tumors, demyelinating disease, and neurodegenerative disorders; (2) personal injury and traumatic brain injury, including mild/moderate/severe TBI, post-concussive syndromes, mechanism of injury, biological plausibility, prognosis, and long-term functional impact, with review of neuroimaging and neuropsychological assessments; (3) disability and independent medical evaluations (virtual IME and record review), including impairment ratings, work capacity, restrictions, and permanence for SSDI, private disability, and workers’ compensation claims; and (4) pharmaceutical and medical device matters, including neurologic adverse events, clinical trial design and endpoints, evidence synthesis, and evaluation of causation using real-world evidence and outcomes data. (5) I also consult on matters involving neurological injury, cognitive vulnerability, and capacity in elder abuse and neglect cases, including delayed diagnosis and failure to protect cognitively impaired individuals. Services provided include medical record review and written reports, virtual IME, literature review and evidence synthesis, consultation with counsel on medical and scientific issues, and deposition and trial testimony when appropriate. I am available for timely record review, case screening, and ongoing consultation, and I strive to provide well-supported opinions that are clinically grounded and withstand legal and scientific scrutiny.
