Susanne Harter is a Clinical Director of Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with over 35 years of experience in the field of outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine, and healthcare leadership. I have served for over 12 years as a Director of Physical Therapy with responsibilities for clinical standards of care, regulatory compliance, utilization review, documentation, HIPAA compliance, staffing, budgeting, oversight and operational efficiency. Throughout my career I have provided direct patient care specializing in musculoskeletal and sports related injuries, return to function rehabilitation, and evidence-based treatment planning. My clinical responsibilities have included comprehensive patient care, quality assurance, and ongoing communication with referring physicians and other health care team providers. In addition to my clinical and administrative roles, I have more than 15 years in academia as an Adjunct Professor in Athletic Training/ Health and Human Performance and Exercise Science at the College of Charleston and Charleston Southern Universities, responsible for clinical education, mentorship of students in order to prepare them for careers in healthcare and sports medicine. I have additional areas of expertise in travel, management, and acute and long-term medical intervention for the Women's World Cup team from 1990-1996, providing acute care and injury management for local high school football programs from 1988-1996, coordination of the Charleston area Teacher Athletic Trainer Program which was instrumental in providing health care services for Charleston area high schools. I have participated in numerous professional seminars, educational programs, and public speaking engagements throughout my career and have been honored recently as a Top Female in Medicine in the Charleston area by Health Links magazine in 2026. As an expert witness, I provide objective analysis and testimony related to physical therapy and athletic training standards of care, clinical operations, compliance, documentation, supervision, and sports injury management.
