Dr. Robert Turelli, MD, MA, FACEP is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician, medical-legal consultant, and expert witness with 17 years of high-acuity practice at major academic hospitals. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Northwestern University and practices at Level I and Level II trauma centers in Chicago. Dr. Turelli has completed more than 50 expert witness depositions, including complex, multi-system, and high-visibility litigation. His areas of expertise include emergency department standards of care, diagnostic error, documentation practices, acute cardiac care (including STEMI systems and door-to-balloon pathways), sepsis, stroke, trauma, resident supervision, communication breakdowns, and systems failures affecting emergency care delivery. He completed a two-year Administrative Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Northwestern University, where he focused on patient safety, ED operations, quality improvement, and system-level evaluation of emergency care. He previously served as Chair of the Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and directed Morbidity & Mortality Conferences for 13 years, overseeing analysis of medical error, operational failures, and deviations from standard of care. Dr. Turelli trained at Yale University in Emergency Medicine, earned his MD at Tulane University School of Medicine, holds a Master of Arts from Boston University, and is completing his MBA at the Kellogg School of Management. He provides timely, objective expert review, clear written reports, and reliable testimony for both plaintiff and defense.
