Dr. Tony Morelli is a software engineering and gaming technology expert consultant with over 25 years of experience designing, building, and evaluating regulated wagering systems. He specializes in server-based gaming architecture, compliance-driven development, and the design of modern casino, sports, and charitable gaming platforms. Throughout his career, Dr. Morelli has been integral to the growth and evolution of the tribal lottery, Class II, and charitable gaming markets in the United States. He has held a wide range of positions, from field support engineer to software developer and system architect, and eventually executive leadership roles. This breadth of experience gives him a unique, end-to-end perspective on how regulated gaming systems are designed, deployed, and maintained in real-world environments. Dr. Morelli has served as an expert consultant, including in patent litigation involving gaming technology and wagering systems, where he has analyzed source code, assessed infringement claims, and explained complex technical concepts in clear, understandable terms. He advises legal teams, gaming companies, and investors on technical strategy, regulatory compliance, and emerging technology trends across the gaming sector. In addition to his consulting work, Dr. Morelli is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the College of Charleston, where he teaches software engineering, software architecture, and AI systems design. He has published research on accessibility in software, compliance-based development, and AI-driven software engineering practices. Earlier in his career, Dr. Morelli held senior engineering roles at Sierra Design Group and Bally Technologies, where he contributed to regulated casino gaming platforms deployed across North America. His current consulting practice focuses on architecture assessments, compliance reviews, source code analysis, and expert support for legal and regulatory matters.
