Division Chief, Pediatric Anesthesiology Medical Expert work for both Pediatric and Adult Patients- Triple board-certified in Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology, and Pediatrics. Dr. Michelle Kars is the Division Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Northwell Health’s Cohen Children’s Medical Center and an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Kars has extensive experience in perioperative care for both pediatric and adult patients. She has led numerous clinical and operational initiatives, including launching a 24/7 pediatric acute pain service, developing the first ACGME-accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Northwell, and overseeing the design and opening of a new state-of-the-art pediatric operating room complex. She has been a leader in patient safety and quality at her institution for over 10 years. A national and international speaker with over 100 presentations and 20 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Kars has held leadership positions with the Society for Pediatric Pain Medicine and ASRA Pain Medicine. She also maintains membership in American Society of Anesthesiologists, NY State Society of Anesthesiologists and American Academy of Pediatrics. Her expertise includes: quality and patient safety, airway management, intraoperative and postoperative management, regional anesthesia, epidurals, acute pain management, trauma, OR fires, sedation, pharmacology, medication errors, positioning and nerve injuries, outpatient anesthesiology, and preoperative evaluation. Dr. Kars provides expert medical review and testimony in cases involving pediatric and general anesthesiology, perioperative standards of care, and patient safety for both plaintiff and defendant work.
