Ayman Alakkawi is a Chief Marine Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer (CEng, UK) with over 23 years of global experience in the Maritime, Offshore Oil & Gas, and Renewable Energy sectors. He is the Founder and President of Consult Maritime LLC, an independent maritime consultancy based in the New York Metropolitan Area, serving clients across North America and internationally. Ayman is a recognized expert in marine engineering, vessel integrity, regulatory compliance, and accident investigation, with a distinguished record of conducting over 900 vessel inspections and audits worldwide. His expertise spans casualty investigations, failure analysis, and LNG/Dual Fuel Vessel Design & Operation, positioning him as a trusted expert witness in complex technical disputes. As a consulting marine engineer, Ayman has investigated a wide range of hull and machinery cases, including damage to main and auxiliary engines (low-speed, medium-speed motors), hull casualties (cargo holds explosions), shipboard fires, and grounding. His experience includes both commercial and luxury vessels, and he routinely delivers training and technical supports for shipping companies providing deep insight into operational failures and engineering risks. His career bridges shipboard engineering as a chief marine engineer, academic leadership, and regulatory consulting, including class surveyor roles with Lloyd’s Register, Technical Director with the Liberian Ship Registry, and Assistant Professor of marine engineering with SUNY Maritime College. He has led initiatives in LNG and dual-fuel vessel compliance, drydock project management, and alternative energy integration, and has authored professional training programs for Lloyd’s Maritime Academy. Ayman brings a wealth of knowledge having worked on behalf of Class and Flag for all commercial vessels including large Passenger Cruise vessels and Super Yachts, he is certified in ISM, ISPS, MLC, eCMID, and LNG/Dual Fuel technologies, and regularly conducts audits (QHSE), feasibility studies, and engineering evaluations for oil/chemical tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers, containerships, and offshore vessels.
