11Additional Information
I am a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist with over 20 years of continuous, full-time clinical experience in labor management, delivery, and high-risk obstetrics. I am unique among Obstetrican-Gynecologist experts because I spent the first nine years of my career practicing OBGYN as a board certified Family Physician, and also taught Obstetrics to medical students, residents, and even midwives for the majority of my career. I actively practice today, ensuring that my opinions reflect current standards of care in Obstetrics & Gynecology. My background includes a B.S. in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University and an M.D. from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. I completed residencies in both Family Medicine (Womack Army Medical Center) and Obstetrics & Gynecology (Tripler Army Medical Center), and served 21 years as an Army physician & surgeon before retiring honorably. In leadership, I have held roles as Chair of Women’s Health & Newborn Care, Chief of Surgery, and Director of an Obstetric Emergency Department. Academically, I have served as adjunct faculty at Uniformed Services University, Texas A&M University Health Sciences Center, and as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mercer School of Medicine. I have published in peer-reviewed journals on topics in obstetrics and gynecology. Today, I am a full-time partner in the oldest and largest OB-GYN group practice in Colorado Springs, CO. My dual background in family medicine and obstetrics uniquely equips me to assess maternal-fetal, surgical, and emergency care. I provide expert witness services for both plaintiff and defense, including case review, written reports, deposition, and trial testimony. I am most commonly called on to opine on the standard of care in cases involving birth complications, prenatal care and postpartum care deviations and misinterpretation of fetal heart tracings. I continue to regularly perform routine gynecologic surgery and am often asked to opine on cases involving surgical complications involving laparoscopic gynecologic surgery, robotic surgery, C-section, hysteroscopy, uterine and ovarian and pelvic surgery, uterine ablation and the various surgical treatment of fibroids, and abnormal bleeding. I am also called on at times to opine on the outpatient management of routine gynecologic conditions including menstrual irregularities, menopause, fertility disorders, and neuroendocrine disorders involving the female reproductive system.
