Dr. Rebecca Steckroth, DNP, NNP-BC, is a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner with over 20 years of neonatal intensive care experience, including 13 years as a registered nurse and 7 years as a neonatal nurse practitioner in Level II and Level III NICUs. She has led delivery room resuscitations, managed critical neonatal transports, and overseen the comprehensive care of fragile newborns throughout their hospital course. Her work spans both underserved urban hospitals in Michigan and community hospital settings, giving her broad clinical expertise. Dr. Steckroth is recognized for her leadership in neonatal quality improvement, including a doctoral project that improved provider education and device utilization across multiple hospitals. She has served on infection control committees which contributed to policy development to reduce bloodstream infections. She also serves as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students and orientees, medical students, and pediatric residents, and has lectured on neonatal resuscitation for labor and delivery nurses. A skilled communicator, Dr. Steckroth is a frequent speaker to professional and community audiences, including presentations at the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners Conference and ongoing educational outreach to students, school board members and administrators. She is a recipient of the Daisy Award for nursing excellence and was honored as Michigan State University’s Post-Masters DNP Student of the Year in 2023. Her blend of clinical expertise, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement experience makes her a valuable expert witness in matters related to neonatal and perinatal care.
