Eric Van Moorlehem, M.D., is a Physician Executive, board-certified in Emergency Medicine, with 24 years of clinical experience and executive-level leadership. Dr. Van Moorlehem most recently retired as the Executive Vice President and Regional Chief Clinical Officer of the West and Central divisions for Envision Healthcare, a large national multispecialty medical group. His role was responsible for $500M in gross revenues, 110 clinical practices, over 2,500 clinicians, serving 2.5 million annual patient visits in 11 states. Hospital clients included large national, regional, and local health systems, including: UHS Hospitals, Tenet Healthcare, Adventist Health, Lifepoint Health, Banner Health, HonorHealth, Trinity Health, HSHS, Henry Ford, U. of Chicago. Dr. Van Moorlehem possesses a unique background of business experience drawing from his diverse leadership positions ranging from his recent post as EVP/CCO; Integrated Health Ventures board membership (Envision-UHS joint venture); M&A experience- Envision, AmSurg, Sheridan Healthcare merger, private practice acquisitions; Business Development- sales to new and existing client base; New practice startups in emergency, hospitalists and critical care medicine; Revenue cycle management- full lifecycle from documentation to chart management to pre and post billing work; Managed Care- negotiations with key national and regional insurers (UHC, Blues, Cigna). Regulatory experience includes working with hospital clients to satisfy CMS, JCAHO, DNV, NRLB, state Departments of Health, Physician and Nursing medical boards, EMTALA inquiries, and a host of other regulatory and quality-focused reporting initiatives. Additional key experience includes working with ACOs and CINs, having served on the Innovation Care Partners Finance Committee, a large ACO affiliated with HonorHealth Care in Arizona. Overseeing Managed Care contracting, MSSP, and APM models for population health, comprising over 120,000 covered lives. Extensive work in CMS value-based initiative programs: BPCI and ET3 Model programs. Business Innovation: Dr. Van Moorlehem was the President of Stat Doctors Arizona LLC, a startup tele-health company providing virtual urgent care services under a PMPM model, directly contracting with insurers and self-insured businesses. This company was successfully grown and later acquired by Teladoc, which went public in 2015. Dr. Van Moorlehem attended the University of Utah School of Medicine from 1994-1998 and completed the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the University of Arizona after serving as Chief Resident in 2002. His depth of clinical experience draws from over two decades of bedside and physician leadership, continuously licensed to practice in the state of Arizona since 2000. He has served in various roles spanning from disaster medicine director, medical director, regional medical director, department chair, health system director, and regional chief clinical officer.
