Additional Information

I am a nationally certified neonatal nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist with over 16 years of hands-on experience in Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs). I have cared for critically ill preterm and term infants with a wide range of complex conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), congenital anomalies, and surgical emergencies. I currently practice at a large, academic medical center in Los Angeles, where I serve as a Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). In this role, I provide clinical oversight, mentor staff, lead quality improvement initiatives, and develop unit-based protocols rooted in evidence-based practice. I am actively involved in interdisciplinary collaboration and regularly educate bedside nurses, providers, and respiratory therapists on neonatal resuscitation, pathophysiology, and high-risk neonatal care. My formal education includes a Post Master's Certificate as a Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist, from East Caroline University; a Master's Degree in Nursing Education from Western Governor's University; a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Eastern New Mexico University; and an Associates Degree in Nursing from Pima Medical Institute. I am committed to ongoing education and have obtained specialty certification through the NCC in Neonatal Intensive Care (RNC-NIC), Extremely Low Birthweight Newborn Care (C-ELBW), Neonatal Neuro Intensive Care (C-NNIC), and Obstetrical and Neonatal Quality and Safety (C-ONQS). In addition, I am certified through the AACN as an Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist specializing in the Neonatal population (ACCNS-N). I am also a published author on topics including the neonatal microbiome, implicit bias, and health disparities in neonatal care. I serve on the American Heart Association/American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Writing Group and review abstracts and articles for professional organizations such as the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and Neonatal Network. Through my business, Amanda’s NICU Consulting, I provide neonatal continuing education to thousands of NICU nurses through online certification review courses, webinars, and national speaking engagements. I am passionate about teaching, translating complex clinical concepts into understandable, real-world content for both nurses and legal professionals. I provide clear, objective, and evidence-based expert witness services, including medical record review, case analysis, written opinions, deposition, and trial testimony. I am committed to upholding the highest standards of neonatal care and helping attorneys understand whether those standards were met or breached.
