I am a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the University of Florida, IEEE Fellow, and AAAS Fellow, and I serve as an expert witness in patent litigation and other complex technology matters involving distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, machine learning, GPU-accelerated and high-performance computing systems, and large-scale software architectures. My work focuses on helping counsel and courts understand how modern computing systems operate in practice—particularly where technical claims, system behavior, and real-world implementation diverge. This includes analyzing how systems behave under scale, latency, partial failure, and distributed coordination constraints. I provide clear, structured, and defensible technical analysis across all phases of litigation, including expert reports, depositions, PTAB/IPR proceedings, and trial testimony. I previously served as CTO and co-founder of Paramark, an ad-serving optimization platform (PILOT) that operated at scale in the programmatic advertising ecosystem, with hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying large-scale distributed production systems. Typical Engagements Patent infringement and validity disputes involving software systems, distributed architectures, and cloud platforms Inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the PTAB, including expert reports and depositions Trade secret disputes involving proprietary algorithms, machine learning systems, and system architectures Disputes involving GPU-accelerated systems, parallel computing, and high-performance architectures Cases involving system scalability, feasibility, and behavior under real-world operating conditions Technical disputes involving data pipelines, distributed coordination, and system design assumptions Technology-intensive matters requiring clear explanation of complex systems to judges and juries Areas of Expertise Distributed systems, cloud computing, and large-scale backend architectures Data platforms, databases, and large-scale data processing pipelines Machine learning systems and algorithmic decision-making GPU-accelerated and parallel computing (CUDA-based environments, distributed GPU systems) High-performance computing, parallel architectures, and data-intensive workloads System performance analysis (latency, throughput, scalability, fault tolerance, and failure modes) Services Provided Early case assessment and technical evaluation of claims and system designs Claim construction and Markman support grounded in real-world implementations Expert reports (infringement, non-infringement, validity, invalidity) PTAB/IPR expert analysis, reports, and deposition testimony Rebuttal analysis of opposing expert opinions and technical assumptions Deposition and trial testimony in complex technology matters Background 350+ peer-reviewed publications; 13 U.S. patents Program Chair and Conference Chair for top-tier IEEE/ACM conferences Former CTO and co-founder of Paramark (ad-serving optimization platform) Extensive research and industry experience in distributed, data-intensive, and high-performance systems Litigation Experience 15+ expert reports and declarations across federal district courts, the PTAB, and the USPTO Deposition and trial testimony, including federal jury trial (800 Adept v. Murex Securities) Markman hearing support and claim construction analysis Experience on both plaintiff and defense sides in patent litigation and IPR proceedings Representative Matters Tesla v. Intellectual Ventures (IPR) Freewheel Media v. AlmondNet (IPR; expert reports and depositions) Hayden AI v. SafeFleet Holdings (district court; expert report and deposition) Google v. MindbaseHQ (IPR; expert reports and depositions) 800 Adept v. Murex Securities (jury trial) Additional patent and inter partes review matters
