Additional Information

Dr. David Stilley has practiced emergency and urgent care medicine in Des Moines since 1988. During those years he served as Emergency Department medical director at Broadlawns Polk County Hospital and Mercy Des Moines (now MercyOne Des Moines). These positions required recruitment, training, and supervision of teams of physicians and mid-level practitioners serving in high volume, high acuity environments. In 2007 he co-founded and led DoctorsNow Walk-in Care, at the time the first privately owned Urgent Care clinics in Central Iowa. He continues to provide coverage in Emergency departments. Dr. Stilley is licensed in Iowa and Missouri. He is a native of Suburban Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended medical school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Over the years Dr. Stilley has provided expert advice regarding cases involving both Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Urgent Care. This has included case review for insurance companies prior to litigation, as well as expert testimony for both plaintiff and defense attorneys. Dr. Stilley is a Commercial Pilot with Fixed wing and helicopter ratings, and this experience has been valuable in cases where helicopter transport of injured or critically ill patients has been an issue. Cases he has assisted have included sources in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. Throughout his career Dr. Stilley has been involved in EMS (ambulance) and disaster preparation and leadership and remains the medical director for the State of Iowa Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) created to respond to disasters in Iowa meeting the need for a Governor’s disaster declaration.
