Dr. Batteiger has been a practicing physical therapist since 2016 with a background treating geriatric, post-operative, neurologic, musculoskeletal, and athletic patients. He is currently studying for the Geriatric Clinical Specialist certification, exam date in early 2026. Following graduation, he began working at a level II trauma center that held the Joint Commission certification as a Primary Stroke Center and provided physical therapy to patients after neurological diagnoses including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and dementia. Provided orientation training for safe patient handling and proper use of mechanical lifts for new employees. He also piloted a program in the emergency department, including providing evaluations and collecting/analyzing data to present to upper management in order to establish efficacy of physical therapy in optimizing patient placement in collaboration with the medical team. He transitioned to Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle which received the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission for hip and knee replacement surgery, and spinal surgery. He provided evaluation and treatment for patients from post-operative day 0 through day 14, as well as working in the acute care, ICU, and outpatient settings within the hospital. Following his time at Montefiore Hospital, he worked in home health with primarily Medicare Part A patients as well as commercial insurance providers for patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, peripheral vascular disease, and neurological diagnoses. Dr. Batteiger is currently working at a critical access hospital in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, and offering expert witness services including determination of medical necessity, scope of practice, proper treatment and surgical protocols, and appropriate standard of care.
