He has been retained on more than 50 cases involving bicycle crashes, including: analysis of product failures; bicycle assembly, repair & design; bicycle engineering; patent/trademark matters; races & bicycle related events; and more. He has written about bicycles for more than 25 years for leading publications such as Bicycling, Outside, & other titles; worked as a product developer/engineer; is past elite-level competitor & national championship medalist; race director of national-level cycling events; and holds four patents for bicycle-related technology. BS, Mechanical Engineering. He has served as an expert witness in more than 50 bicycle-related lawsuits in the past 15 years, both for plaintiff and defense. He has been retained by counsel for industry-leading companies including Garmin, Campagnolo, USA Cycling, and others; by insurance companies including Nationwide, Cincinnati Insurance Company, and others; and by dozens of personal injury lawfirms. Cote also practices patent law as a Registered Patent Agent, and has been retained as a Person of Ordinary Skill in the Art (POSITA) for intellectual property matters involving bicycle and fitness equipment.
