Joseph E. Snavely, M.D. is a board-certified orthopaedic spine surgeon with fellowship training at Northwestern University in Chicago in both neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Orlando Health, including a year serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Snavely has special training in minimally invasive spine surgery, surgical and non-surgical treatment of degenerative spinal disorders and scoliosis deformity, as well as complex revision spine surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in the country to use 7D Surgical image guided navigation. 7D is now routinely utilized for safer and more efficient spine surgery, while reducing radiation exposure. Dr. Snavely currently serves as Chief of Surgery at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital and is a faculty surgeon with the Orlando Health Orthopaedic Surgery Residency. He has authored peer-reviewed publications in well-respected spine surgery journals and presented his research at numerous scientific meetings receiving awards for his presented work. He has been nominated by peers in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 as an Orlando Magazine Premier Doctor. He has experience as an expert witness for CME/IME's and serves as an expert reviewer for the Florida Board of Medicine.
