He is retained by both plaintiff and defense counsel in matters involving negligent or inadequate security, premises liability, crime foreseeability, wrongful death, use of force, proximate cause, and security standards of care. His analytical methodology is grounded in structured Risk Environment Assessments (REAs) that utilize certified law enforcement calls-for-service (CFS) and crime data to establish patterns, prior-notice indicators, and foreseeability thresholds. Reports are produced in accordance with IAPSC methodology standards, qualitative research methods, and are designed to withstand Daubert and FRE 702 scrutiny. He is retained to opine on: assault, battery, violent crimes, and wrongful death arising from security failures; guard force negligence and patrol deficiencies; CPTED measures; lighting, access control, and surveillance; negligent hiring, training, and supervision of security personnel; and standard-of-care issues at casinos, hotels, nightclubs, bars, apartment complexes, parking facilities, and retail properties. Michael Johnston holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Culture and Leadership and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He retired as a Police Captain from the Henderson Police Department after 26 years, commanding Investigative Services (Homicide, Robbery, SVU, Property, Fraud, Forensics, and Crime Scene Analysts), Special Services (SWAT, K-9, Homeland Security), and Joint Task Forces (JTTF, DEA, IRS, ICAC). He subsequently served as Director of Security and Risk Management for two Nevada casino properties and as Lead Investigative Strategist and Risk and Investigation Manager at GGRM Law Firm (2025–2026). He is judicially qualified as a security expert witness in Clark County, Nevada (Eighth Judicial District Court).
