Additional Information

I am a board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physician with over three decades of experience providing and overseeing care in high-acuity settings, including major children’s hospitals, Level 1 trauma centers, and community emergency departments. I currently serve as Section Chief and Endowed Chair of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. My practice focuses on the management of critically ill and injured children, with expertise in pediatric trauma, airway emergencies, sepsis, child maltreatment, and complex medical presentations. I have served in key leadership roles—including Medical Director, Research Director, and Interim Section Chief—responsible for clinical operations, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives. I bring particular strength in evaluating standard of care within the realities of emergency medicine, including the constraints and decision-making pressures inherent in acute care settings. I have extensive experience in systems-based care, clinical pathways, and operations that impact outcomes and compliance with national standards. My scholarly work includes over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on pediatric emergency medicine, clinical decision-making, and quality of care. I am frequently invited to lecture nationally on topics including judicious antibiotic use, pediatric trauma, emergency department operations, and visual diagnosis. As an expert witness, I provide objective, evidence-based opinions grounded in current guidelines, published literature, and practical understanding of pediatric emergency care. My reviews reflect the complexities and context in which care is delivered, and I am committed to providing thorough, balanced analyses that support the defense of healthcare professionals and institutions.
