Additional Information

I’m an electrical engineer (MIT), physician (University of Michigan), pediatric cardiologist (Johns Hopkins), MBA (UTK), inventor with 20 medical device and 5 sporting equipment patents, and entrepreneur with three startup companies, one of which, MGI Medical, LLC (www.mgimedical.com), is commercializing an invention of mine, the Pulse Flowmeter, which can detect hemodynamically significant occult blood loss well before the blood pressure drops. This is for the management of trauma, post-operative bleeding, battlefield triage, GI bleeders and battlefield injuries). I am a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. Honors include membership in Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honorary) , membership in Eta Kappa Nu (electrical engineering honorary), a listing in Marquis Who's Who in America and Physician Leader of the year at the Physician's Executive MBA Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Because of my background in medicine, engineering, business, and intellectual property (including 25 patents and involvement in a 5 year patent infringement lawsuit that terminated with a large settlement in our favor), I provide advice regarding the assessment, protection, and commercialization of medical technology through my consulting business, Medical Invention Consulting, LLC (www.medicalinventionconsulting.com). I help investors conducting due diligence, startup companies, academic institutions trying to determine the clinical and commercial viability of university owned inventions, inventors, patent attorneys, and corporations considering whether to commercialize a new technology or to buy out a smaller medical technology company. My credentials are available at www.linkedin.com/in/lmarks1950 and www.medicalinventionconsulting.com.
