Dr. Ashu Guru is a former university professor and software scientist with approximately 25 years of experience in software engineering and information technology. Early in his career, Dr. Guru served as an application specialist at a major supercomputing center, where he supported high-performance, data-intensive applications for scientific research and was an affiliate of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Dr. Guru later served as Director of Research Strategy and faculty at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he led interdisciplinary software initiatives and taught courses in data science, systems engineering and applied computing. He subsequently transitioned into software development roles at post-secondary institutions in California, where he designed and maintained enterprise-grade applications supporting critical academic and administrative operations. Dr. Guru holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering and an M.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering with a minor in Management Information Systems. His professional experience spans system architecture, source code analysis, cloud computing, simulation, and ERP systems, with hands-on work across a wide range of programming languages, databases, and platforms. His projects have included cloud-based research platforms, university-wide student and HR systems, and performance-optimized services supporting financial aid, scheduling, and workflow automation. In addition to his software development career, Dr. Guru has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in computing fields, with hundreds of academic citations. He has taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses in software systems, mentored development teams, and led interdisciplinary R&D initiatives in areas such as 3D modeling, virtual reality, and IoT platforms. His academic background and communication skills allow him to clearly explain complex software issues to legal professionals and lay audiences. Dr. Guru holds professional certifications in software architecture from Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI), Java programming from Sun Microsystems, and Linux system administration credentials. His background equips him to evaluate software reliability, review and interpret source code, assess system behavior, and identify potential flaws in design or implementation. As an expert witness, he brings a methodical, evidence-based approach to every engagement.
