Dr. Joseph O. Ugorji is a board-certified, fellowship-trained MRI radiologist and Independent Medical Examiner with extensive experience in traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spinal/musculoskeletal trauma. He provides attorneys with clear, medically supported radiology reports that translate complex imaging into actionable case insights. How Dr. Ugorji can assist attorneys: • Identify objective imaging evidence of brain or spinal injury • Clarify the extent and severity of neurological trauma Support or evaluate clinical diagnoses for TBI, brain injury, or spinal injury • Provide concise, high-quality expert reports for case review or litigation • Offer expert testimony as an Independent Medical Examiner (IME) or Medical Expert Witness Expertise and Advanced Imaging: • MRI techniques including Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), Functional MRI, Quantitative MRI • Analysis of Brain MRI Abnormalities, white matter abnormalities, and subtle structural injuries • Experience with Brain Volume Analysis, Brain Hemorrhage Detection (SWI), and neuroimaging research • Computational MRI and advanced image analysis for detecting microstructural injury Practice Highlights: • Development of DTI spinal cord protocols • Training in computational brain MRI analysis • Peer-reviewed publications and ongoing research in neuroradiology and advanced neuroimaging His research and advanced imaging work include advanced MRI techniques to look deeper into the brain and detect injuries that may not show up on standard scans which includes the following: • 3D Scalp Mapping Creates a detailed 3D view of the head and scalp to help match external injuries with internal findings. • Brain Volume & Brain Age Analysis Measures the size of different brain areas and compares them to normal values to see if there is shrinkage or abnormal aging. • Brain Hemorrhage Detection (SWI)/ Brain Bleed (susceptibility) Map Identifies tiny bleeds (microbleeds) that are often missed on regular MRI or CT scans. • DTI Forebrain Mapping Looks at nerve fibers in the main part of the brain to detect subtle damage affecting thinking, memory, and behavior. • DTI Hindbrain Mapping Examines brainstem and balance-related pathways, which can affect coordination, dizziness, and basic functions. • White Matter / Myelin Mapping (CAD + FLAIR) Detects damage to brain wiring (white matter) using advanced imaging and computer analysis. Dr. Ugorji’s expertise helps attorneys understand complex imaging evidence, strengthen case evaluation, and clearly communicate medical findings to judges and juries.
