Dr. Ryan Vealey is a board-certified anesthesiologist with fellowship subspecialty training in neurosurgical anesthesiology. Dr. Vealey completed a Bachelors of Science Degree at Villanova University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine. He completed both a general anesthesiology residency and neuroanesthesia fellowship training at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine/Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Vealey is currently Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at a large community hospital in suburban Chicago and Director of the Neurosurgery/Spine Anesthesia section. He holds several leadership positions within the hospital and physician group setting, including those dedicated to ensuring high quality care and case review. Dr. Vealey remains a full-time clinical anesthesiologist in a predominantly physician-only practice. Specialty expertise in all facets of anesthesia concerning neurological surgeries and diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to, neurophysiology, brain tumor surgery, cerebrovascular surgery (aneurysm, AVM), neurointerventional surgery, complex spine surgery and awake surgical procedures. In addition, Dr. Vealey also maintains a wide-ranging clinical practice with routine, personal management of patients undergoing general, orthopedic, vascular, thoracic, oncologic and endoscopic procedures, among others. Routine use of ultrasound-guided regional nerve blocks, spinal and epidural anesthesia and management of obstetric patients for labor analgesia, operative deliveries and surgical emergencies.
